sharolyn's pet portraits

one of a kind pet portraits

This is a portrait that I took on simply because I liked the photograph I had taken but really wanted to see it in a painted format.

I loved the odd angle as well as the human element within the image.

The photo looks quite a bit warmer in this upload compared with the much cooler looking painting. Much of this is due to the way color is translated in digital format.

In the painting the dimensions of the canvas are slightly different so I ever so slightly cropped it – you can see that his paws go off the canvas. I like this because of the negative space “pockets” around him and the flow across the canvas from her arms to his and off. You can’t see it here, but the paw detail wraps around to the side of the canvas.

This is one of my favorite paintings to date!
